To Apply for School Superintendent LCE (Lamar Comprehensive Exam)

The State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) requires that all students seeking certification in Texas pass a comprehensive examination. For all certifications, students must pass an exam in their content area. Lamar University College of Education and Human Development offers eligible students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of standards.

All M.Ed. and Certification Only programs leading to a professional certification will demonstrate mastery for course standards.


• Students will take the applicable LCE (Lamar Comprehensive Exam) with a passing score of 80% or better before being eligible for the state exam.

• Each student enrolled in EDLD 5387 will be scheduled to take the LCE (Lamar Comprehensive Exam). Students who do not pass the (LCE) in EDLD 5387 will be given another opportunity to pass the exam in EDLD 5399.
