Expanding Opportunities for LU Students

Marie PanchotJoin the Department of Nutrition, Hospitality & Human Services in welcoming Marie Panchot as the department’s new Student Success Liaison & Academic Coordinator. A native of Beaumont, with family members who are LU alums, Panchot has long been a supporter of Lamar Univeristy and is excited about her recent career change. Before working at LU, Panchot was employed in human resources in the home health industry, and she also has years of experience in the hospitality industry.

Panchot’s previous work experience was one of service, which blends well with her new position in the NHHS Department. “I find joy in helping and serving others so they can succeed, “ states Panchot. “This change has provided me with the opportunity to serve students, faculty, Lamar University, and the surrounding community.” Panchot, who began working in the LU's Nutrition, Hospitality & Human Services Department in May 2021, enjoys the challenge of learning new things and has found her job exciting and rewarding – especially with students back on campus.

Panchot has visited each NHHS class taught in the traditional setting to introduce herself to students and welcome them to LU and the department. She shares volunteer and social opportunities with students as she strives to build a strong student community. Panchot believes in the importance of communication and constantly moving forward. “Bridging the gap to help others communicate effectively and efficiently is important to me,” says Panchot.
