Bridging the Digital Divide Summer Camps

An innovative project of Lamar University's College of Education and Human Development, funded by the AT&T Foundation

Join us as we begin eight one-day summer camps focused on Bridging the Digital Divide!

Middle school and high school students are encouraged to register and attend free, one-day camps starting July 10. Camps are funded by the AT&T Foundation.

A t-shirt, light breakfast and box lunch will be provided to each student participating.

Bridging the Digital Divide Summer Camps

Camp Sessions and Schedules

Each day's participants will attend three sessions:
  1. Digital Literacy Workshop: Lamar University faculty and students will provide training on Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  2. Digital Safety for Middle School and High School Students: Lamar University faculty will provide a program designed to ensure that students are aware of best practices for keeping personal information safe, maintaining appropriate privacy settings on devices, practice safe web browsing, safety when downloading from the Internet, secure VPN connections, etc.
  3. Social Media: Lamar University faculty will create a safe environment to discuss the implications of social media presence and usage of social media platforms for teenagers and adolescents, with an emphasis on safety, cyber bullying and implications for future opportunities based upon social media usage.

Camp dates: July 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, and 20

Camp Location and Contacts

Camps will be held at Lamar University's Science and Technology Building—see aLamar University map.

*Students must provide their own transportation to and from the camp and be dropped off at the entrance nearest the parking lot at Cunningham and Iowa streets.

*Students may only participate in one day of camp.
