Lamar University is committed to continuous improvement in its data governance practices. Our organization aims to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making. Data governance training is essential for organizations to manage their data effectively, ensuring it is accurate, secure, and used responsibly.

Lamar University Data Literacy Program

Data Literacy Training has arrived at Lamar University for staff and faculty!  The training can be accessed in the HR Training Nest on the LUConnect page, using LEA Account credentials. For any login difficulties, reaching out to the HR department is advised. 

Training sessions have been assigned to support Lamar University’s campus-wide data governance goals.

Employees are encouraged to complete the courses as part of a structured pathway that strengthens Lamar University’s data culture.

Data Governance Foundations – Level 1

Level 1 includes the following courses, available in the HR Training Nest:

• Texas DIR: Introduction to Data Literacy

• Texas DIR: Data Security

• Texas DIR: Data Privacy

Each course completion will result in an Anthology Milestone Badge recognizing progress in responsible data practices. Employees who also attend the Data Governance Summer 2025 Series 1, either in person or by viewing the recorded session, will earn the Lamar University Data Governance Summer 2025 Series 1 Anthology Milestone Badge.

When all three badges and the Summer 2025 Series 1 badge have been earned, employees will receive the Data Governance Foundations Level 1 completion badge.

Data Governance Foundations – Level 2

Level 2 training began in Fall 2025 and currently features the course:

• Texas DIR: Data Quality

This level continues to expand the university’s training efforts and further supports Lamar’s data governance initiatives.

Data Governance Summer 2025 Series 1 Participant		Earners must attend the in-person session or watch the recorded Data Governance at Lamar University Summer 2025 Series 1 session. This badge is available exclusively to Lamar University staff and faculty. The video content for this badge will be reviewed each year and updated as needed.	View Video
