Study Abroad Cancellations

Issued: Friday, March 6, 2020
Time: 4:41 p.m.

Out of care and concern for its faculty, staff and students, Lamar University has made the difficult decision to cancel all study abroad trips for the spring and summer 2020.

Lamar University is committed to a robust study abroad program and providing students with an enriching global experience. However, at this time with the prevalence of COVID-19  (Coronavirus) and its continuing spread across the world, the university is unwilling to risk one student’s health and safety. All monies paid into the program will be reimbursed to students. Students will receive a full refund on the payments they have made.

Additionally, LU is committed to providing advising support to ensure students stay on track towards graduation. For specific questions about curriculum opportunities and course options, please contact the Undergraduate Advising Center at 409-880-8822 or email advising@lamar.edu.

The university is currently taking proposals for study abroad programs to be reviewed on June 1, 2020 for the next academic year, and it expects all programs to resume after this horrific disease is contained and/or eradicated.
