Welcome Back to Campus

LU Community,

I want to welcome each of you to campus at the end of this first week of classes for the fall semester. Some of you have been here for years as students, faculty or staff while others are learning for the first time at LU on-campus or online. If you’ve been around for a few years, please help those who are getting acclimated to where buildings are located and services are offered.

We are all excited about having our food venues open back up, like the Brooks-Shivers Dining Hall, Starbucks in the Mary and John Gray Library along with Chick-Fil-A and Panda Express in the Setzer Student Center. The Writing Center and LU Tutoring Center are both ready to help students be successful with their studies this year, and the UAC is available to assist with any scheduling concerns. Hopefully, you have been able to get your I.D. cards and parking passes as well throughout this week. If not, go by the Wimberly Building and get that done soon.

Additionally, you will see signs around campus encouraging you to social distance, wear a mask, wash or sanitize your hands and more. Please take the time to do these things, not only for yourself and your own safety, but for everyone around you. We require everyone to wear a mask, not only out of concern, but also respect for your fellow Cardinal. If we all take responsibility, it will make a huge difference.

We are glad to have you as part of the Lamar University community, and I wish you all the best for a successful fall semester.
