How to register for the HESI

In order to take the HESI exam, you must create an Evolve account. You will need a username and password to take the exam. If you do not create an account before your test date, you will not be able to sit for this exam.

Testing Schedule

Tuesday - Friday
8:00 am to 12:00 pm 

What to Bring on Test Day

You will need a valid (non-expired) photo ID.
Examples: Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, Military ID, School ID.
 
Calculators will be provided on the computer. All examinees must have social security number at the time of the exam.

When do I take HESI?

For Fall admission: testing dates are from October 1st to February 15th
For Spring admission: testing dates are from May 1st to August 15th
 
Reschedules can only occur within the same testing window.

 

What Sections do I Take?

BSN – Reading Comprehension*, Vocabulary & General Knowledge, Grammar, Basic Math Skills, Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry

*Students will have until March 1st for Fall admission or September 1st for Spring admission to retake the Reading Comprehension section only.

How Long Will Testing Last?

BSN = 4 hours and 10 minutes
 

Scores

You will receive an unofficial copy of your score report upon completing your exam. All scores must be reported to the Nursing Department. Students are not allowed to cancel scores after the completion of testing. The Testing Coordinator will bring the official scores to the Nursing Department.

Testing Accommodations

To request accommodations for the HESI because of a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act of 1990 including the amendments of 2008, you must:

  • At least 1 week prior to the test date, submit a copy of your accommodation request, along with documentation of the disability, to 409-880-8347 or drc@lamar.edu.

The DRC Director will review the documentation and request to determine if there are appropriate testing accommodations to be assigned based on the information provided. The Director may also need to speak with you either in person or over-the-phone regarding your request. See the documentation guidelines at lamar.edu/drc.

The Center for Career and Professional Development and the person requesting accommodations will be notified of any assigned testing accommodations prior to the test date. No accommodations will be granted without documentation of disability being on file with the Disability Resource Center.

Possible testing accommodations that must be requested at least four weeks prior to the test date are:
