Maintains an active interest in Lamar University; has served as regent and as founder and chairman of the John E. Gray Foundation.

Honors or Awards: Lamar University honored Mr. Mason with the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1974.

Affiliation: Chairman and CEO of First Security National Bank in Beaumont.

Mr. Mason continued his First International Bancshares and First National Bank of Dallas, where he served as Chairman and CEO. The company was the largest banking group in Texas at the time and was later merged into what is now Bank of America.

Co-founder and Managing Partner of Mason Best Company.

Mr. Mason has served as director on many corporate boards including Texaco, Tracor, and Dallas Power and Light.

Known For: Mr. Mason led the efforts to construct and provide the John Gray Center to Lamar University.
