When are classes held?

The M.B.A. program is designed to be flexible for people with full time obligations during the day. Classes meet Monday – Thursday, 5:30 pm – 8:25 pm. Four courses are offered online with the Enterprise Resource Planning concentration or certificate. 

How many credits do I need to complete the Lamar M.B.A. program?

For those with an undergraduate business degree, the Lamar M.B.A. is a 30 hour program, (6 leveling hours, 21 hours of core and 9 hours in a concentration). Students with undergraduate degrees in business from AACSB-accredited colleges will be waived both leveling courses.

For students without any previous undergraduate study in business, the Lamar University M.B.A. consists of 36 semester hours (12 courses). The program consists of two leveling courses, a required core of seven courses and three elective courses that will allow a student to develop a concentration. One or both of the leveling courses may be waived based on previous academic credit.

How long does it take to earn the M.B.A.?

You can earn your M.B.A. in as short as one year and as long as six years. Although on average students take 16 to 24 months (depending on leveling courses required).

How many credits can I take per semester?

Full time is 9 hours (3 courses) and students can take up to 12 hours in a long semester (4 courses).

Can I transfer hours from another M.B.A. program to the Lamar University M.B.A. program?

Six hours can be transferred into the Lamar University M.B.A. if the courses are from an AACSB institution.

Are scholarships available?

For on-campus/hybrid online students, scholarships are available to students whose undergraduate GPA is 3.0 or higher. Scholarships are $1,000 ($500 for fall and $500 for spring) and include, if applicable, an out of state tuition waiver.

What is the application deadline?

Domestic Students: Prospective domestic graduate students should submit all admissions materials at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester in which they wish to begin studies. Please refer to our page for Graduate Admissions


International Students: Applications should submit materials as soon as possible to allow time for visa interview appointments at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, which may have wait times of days or weeks. To find specific dates please refer to our page for International Admissions
