Pre-Physician Assistant Studies

The minimum admission requirements for accredited physician assistant  programs include an earned bachelor’s degree with the following:  20-24 semester hours of introductory and advanced biology; 8 semester hours of general chemistry; 4 semester hours or organic chemistry; 4 semester hours of biochemistry; 6 semester hours of English composition;  and 6 semester hours of mathematics.  Along with a competitive Grade Record Examination score, a strong candidate will have an impressive overall grade point average and will be capable of independent thinking, judgment and action within the boundaries established by the employing physician. Since a physician assistant is educated in the same general way as a physician, the applicant must demonstrate the same genuine and compassionate interest in human well-being.
