The JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing awards approximately $100,000 in scholarships each year to students admitted into the department's nursing programs. The Nursing Scholarship Committees encourages students to review the criteria for each available scholarship and apply to those for which they are eligible.
Endowed scholarships are initially opened in March for the following Fall and/or Spring semester awards. Annually funded scholarships are opened when funds are provided to the accounts. For all scholarships, if funds remain after initial award period, the scholarships may be reopened during any time of the year per committee's discretion.
To apply for scholarships offered through the Dishman School of Nursing, as well as those offered by Lamar University, apply online at lamar.edu/myscholarships, Lamar University's online scholarship application management system. New students will first need to apply for admission to the university in order to receive a username and password in order to submit an application. Current students will use their existing LU credentials to log in to the site.
Students are encouraged to also apply for loans and grants available through the Lamar University Financial Aid office located on the Lamar campus in the Wimberly building, room 216 (Campus Map).
