1. How do I get advised?

All students should see an advisor before they enroll for an upcoming semester.

Freshman and sophomore students should schedule advising appointments with the Undergraduate Advising Center at the appropriate time. For more information on the Undergraduate Advising Center, call (409) 880-8822 or (409) 880-8954. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students should schedule an advising appointment with the English department office.  Advising begins roughly November 1 for Spring and April 1 for Summer or Fall.

2. How do I contact my instructor?

Go to Faculty Directory.  Scroll down until you find your instructor. Call or e-mail your instructor.  Your instructor should give you information about contacting him or her.

3. What should I do when I near graduation?

Graduating seniors and graduate students should schedule an exit interview early in their graduating semester. They should then apply to graduate with the records office.

4. How do I apply for graduate school?

    • Apply by using the link on admissions page of the Lamar graduate school website.
    • Write a statement of purpose or intent in which you discuss your educational background and your reasons for wanting to go to graduate school. Send the letter to the chair of the department.
    • Take the GRE.
