Returning Student Admission

Former Lamar University students who have not attended classes for one or more regular semesters (fall or spring or a combination of shorter sessions that equal 15 weeks or more) are considered a returning student and must file for readmission by updating their admission application online through the statewide Apply Texas system. Returning students who left on suspension must receive written clearance from their academic advisor to be eligible for readmission.

Former students who have attended another college must submit official transcripts of all academic work done after leaving LU and must meet the requirements for other Transfer Students – at least 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Before attending on-campus classes, students who are under age 22 must either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet specific criteria for declining a vaccination. Get more information on complying with this requirement pursuant to Texas Senate Bill 1107.

As part of the State of Texas Grad TX program, LU offers multiple flexible online degree completion programs designed to help students return to college and earn a bachelor's degree.
