Title: “LED Module Performance and Optimization”


Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) have the potential to reduce lighting energy usage in half and contribute significantly to our nation's climate change solutions. The proposed research will consist of analyzing a white LED module performance, a thermal analysis of the components, and a correlation study to determine room for improvement. A delicate instrument will be used to measure the light performance for an LED module under various conditions. A comprehensive thermal model will be developed to correlate with the experimental measurements. The fresh minds of the mechanical engineering students will produce an enhanced design for increased efficiency and resistance to performance degradation.
