Lamar University’s Texas Academy of Leadership in the Humanities will allow students to explore its unique program on March 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the University Reception Center on the 8th floor of the Mary and John Gray Library. The highly-competitive residential honors program allows high-school juniors and seniors to complete high-school courses while earning college credits.
Students and their parents will learn about the benefits of the program. According to academy director Mary Gagne, prospective students and their parents will learn about program’s academic opportunities along with the social atmosphere that can be expected.
The preview day will include presentations from administrators, students and parents. Topics that will be discussed include the program’s academic and social life, residence hall, and financial aid. An optional lunch will be served in the university dining hall.
The event is free and open to the public. Additional information is available from Scott Stevenson, assistant director, at (409) 839-2990 or on TALH web site at www.texasacademy.org.
