Spain will be the destination in September for the annual European tour hosted by KVLU, member-supported public radio at Lamar University. The 11-day trip departs on Sept.18, with scheduled stops in Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona, plus other cities in Northern Spain located near the Pyrenees Mountains.
The tour, a Smithsonian Journeys Travel Adventure, will focus on historic sites, art, and architecture.
“This will be our third trip with Collette Vacations and our second as a Smithsonian Journeys Travel Adventure,” said Melanie Dishman, KVLU station manager for advancement. “We’ll hear lectures on Spanish art history and the Basque culture of the region, plus see the modern art and architecture of such Spanish legends as Picasso, Gaudi and Dali.”
To provide more information about the trip, KVLU has scheduled a meeting with station hosts and tour representatives from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in the lecture hall of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, 500 Main St., in Beaumont. Anyone interested in taking part in this special tour is encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more details, said Dishman.
Travelers do not have to be members of KVLU to participate, she said.
