Dianna Rivers, associate professor of nursing at Lamar University, will present Lamar’s 22nd annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture, sponsored by ExxonMobil, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in the University Theatre on the Lamar campus in Beaumont. Rivers will speak on the topic “Universal Healthcare: Why We Don’t Have It, Why Other Countries Do Have It, and Will We Ever Have It?”
A Lamar faculty member since 1996, Rivers is a veteran registered nurse, nursing administrator and nursing educator. Her lecture will focus on the pros and cons of various systems and strategies for implementing improvements in the United States’ healthcare system.
A reception for Rivers is scheduled after the lecture in the Dishman Art Museum. The University Theatre is on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway at Lavaca.
