A little Halloween magic is in store for Lamar University students and the public Wednesday, Oct. 31, when Lamar Alive and the Setzer Student Center host illusionist Jason Bishop at 7 p.m. in the Setzer Student Center Ballroom.
Bishop attracted a large and enthusiastic audience when he visited Lamar last fall, said Marta Valenzuela, assistant director for student activities. Valenzuela booked the attraction after she saw Bishop’s show at a conference – and was thoroughly impressed. “It’s a great show,” she said.
One of the youngest people to compete in the Society of American Magicians World Class competition, Bishop honed his skills by performing for colleges, corporations and other private functions. Amusement parks and resorts were a natural expansion.
“Bishop is an extraordinary performer who combines only the most visually stunning stage magic with the hottest in contemporary music to create a powerful performance that makes him extremely popular wherever he performs,” according to Clousherentertainment.com.
“Today, his show is truly a treat for the senses,” said the website. “Combining the best in contemporary music and costuming, fast-paced illusions and sleight of hand, engaging audience participation and hilarious comedy routines, he leaves the audience with the incredible feeling that they have just been captivated by some of the world’s finest magic.”
The performance is being presented without charge. For more information on the show, call Valenzuela at (409) 880-2395. For more information on Bishop, visit www.thejasonbishopshow.com.
