Dial 8311

In case of emergency, dial 8311 from any campus phone to get to the Lamar Police. Calling 911 is less efficient since they will redirect you to the campus police anyway. If you do need to dial 911 from campus, you do not need to dial 9 to get out.

The department of Risk Management at Lamar University has formulated procedures for various emergencies including fire evacuation, building evacuation, chemical release emergency, severe weather evacuation and handling suspicious letters/packages.  See the related link on Emergency Procedures and go through all of the procedures in detail for your own safety. When on campus call Extn. 8311 for all emergencies.

Law enforcement, crime prevention and public safety are not the exclusive concern of police officers. All members of the community must take part and do their share to make their community a better place to live and work. By keeping aware of your environment you can do your part by reporting all unusual or suspicious activities immediately to the police. Remember, your participation is limited to observing and reporting. Do not try to handle the situation yourself.
