Many people have heard of the TEXAS Grant, but what is it? The Texas Legislature has established this grant to assist high school graduates, who are academically prepared for college, with the continually increasing costs of higher education.
In order to qualify for the Texas Grant you must:
- Be a Texas resident
- Complete the Recommended or Distinguished High School Program, or received
an Associates Degree in May 2001 or later
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to
determine your financial need (use school code 003581)
- Apply and be accepted by a non-profit Texas college or university of your choice
- Enroll at least three-quarter time (9 hrs) in an undergraduate degree or
certificate program within 16 months of your high school graduation, or within
12 months of receiving an associates degree, and
- Have not been convicted of a felony or a crime involving a controlled substance.
The TEXAS Grant will pay for your tuition and fees at Lamar University. To find out
