Nontraditional students sought for Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society

Lamar University has been accepted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. The society’s board members unanimously accepted the LU’s application for membership.

A non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of scholarship and to recognition of nontraditional students pursuing higher education, Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society and its 300 member institutions recognize the special achievement of adult students who accomplish academic excellence while maintaining commitments to family and career.

Alpha Sigma Lambda, in partnership with its member colleges and universities, has made major contributions in the areas of student recruitment and retention of adult students. It is the only chapter-based honor society for nontraditional learners.

Lamar University will invite student candidates to membership in the Omega Gamma chapter of the society in the next several weeks. Eligibility is limited to undergraduates seeking their first degree who have completed 24 or more credit hours (not including transfer credits) with a minimum cumulative 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
