Campus informed of student accident death

Lamar University student Feroze Mohammed, 26, of Hyderabad, India, who was studying industrial engineering, died after an accidental fall at Robert H Treman State Park in New York State on Friday, Sept. 11.

“The University Community is saddened by the loss of Mr. Feroze Mohammed,” said Terry Mena, dean of students.  Mohammed entered Lamar University in fall 2013. He served as International Student Council member in 2014-2015 and was also a Community Leader at Gentry Hall, Cardinal Village. 

“His accomplishments in International Student Council as well as his leadership as a community leader at Gentry Hall to his residents and international students were exemplary,” Mena said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

The university’s Division of Student Engagement and Office of International Student Services were notified over the weekend. Grief counseling is available for any students through the Student Health Center, (409) 880-8466.
