LU offers free shuttle tracking app for mobile devices

Students can track the real-time location of all LU shuttle vehicles by downloading a free mobile application or visiting the TransLōc Real-Time Vehicle Tracking app website.

“This app allows students to check on their mobile devices to see if the shuttle has diverted from its route and to see the exact location of the route,” said Randy Martin, director of public safety. “All instructions and tutorials to work the app can be found on the LUPD Facebook page as well as the Lamar online site. This app is not just for students with smartphones because it can also be accessed on desktops and laptops.”

Accessible all year round, the shuttle, a joint initiative by the Lamar University Police Department, Division of Student Engagement, International Student Services, and the Student Government Association, presently travels a set route including campus locations and those sites around the immediate vicinity of the campus from 5 p.m.-12 a.m. daily. The shuttle also offers a service on the weekends to nearby locations from 12-5 p.m.

To use this free service, students must have a valid ID.

“Since starting the shuttle service in the fall of 2013, we have experienced a resounding success,” said Martin. “This shuttle service is a tremendous asset to Lamar and we are proud to be a part of the student experience.”

The current shuttle map route and schedule can be found on the LUPD’s online site or picked up from the Parking Office.
