Lamar University recognizes twelve faculty retirees

Twelve retirees – representing nearly 250 years of teaching excellence at Lamar University – received recognition April 9 during the university’s annual faculty awards ceremony.

These faculty members have retired or will retire during the 2013-2014 academic year, listed according to length of service:

Richard Harrell, University Professor of biology, 48 years

Carl Yaws, professor of chemical engineering, 40 years

Joanne Baker, associate professor of mathematics, 34 years

Joanne Lindeorfer, associate professor of psychology, 33 years

Kelly Draper, associate professor of theatre, 23 years

Larry Elliott, associate professor of communication, 16 years

Charles Coppin, professor of mathematics, 11 years

Barbara May, assistant professor of nursing, 10 years

Nancy Blume, associate professor of nursing, 10 years

Betty Duncan, instructor of education, 9 years

Randy Smith, professor of psychology, 7 years

Melanie Bullock, assistant professor of counseling and special populations, 6 years
