KVLU offers special holiday programing
Saturday, Dec. 21, 2 p.m. – “All Songs Considered for the Holidays”
This wacky holiday tradition from NPR continues with the best holiday songs from the year’s breakout and emerging bands.
Sunday, Dec. 22, 5 p.m. – “Christmas with the Morehouse and Spelman Glee Clubs”
One of the great holiday traditions continues as these prestigious, historically black institutions get together to present a memorable concert program.
Sunday, Dec. 22, 6 p.m. – “A Choral Christmas with Stile Antico”
Listeners can celebrate Christmas with this award-winning choir from London. The choir pays a visit to St. Paul’s Church on Harvard Square for a concert of radiant sacred music, featuring some of the most acclaimed holiday choral composers.
Monday, Dec. 23, 2 p.m. – “Jazz Piano Christmas XXIII”
NPR Music features a concert from the Kennedy Center, hosted by Felix Contreras. The line up includes Andy Bey, Michelle Rosewoman, Stanley Cowell and Sullivan Fortner performing their favorite holiday songs.
Monday, Dec. 23, 8 p.m. – “Tinsel Tales: NPR Christmas Favorites”
This tradition continues with stories from the NPR archives that touch on the meaning of Christmas. David Sedaris, Bailey White, John Henry Faulk and other past and present NPR voices tell the stories of the season.
Finally, on Wednesday, Jan. 1, celebrate the arrival of 2014 with “New Year’s Day from Vienna” as the Vienna Philharmonic presents its annual salute to the waltz, starting at 10 a.m.
