MBA student wins national finance forecast competition
Sijie Sun, a Lamar University MBA student with a concentration in financial management, won a nationwide financial forecast contest hosted by the Financial Management Association (FMA) International in the prediction of year end euro-dollar exchange rates.
Sun forecast a May 31, 2013 late New York closing of 1.29 euro to dollar exchange rate versus an actual year-end rate of 1.299.
Sun, from Hohot, China, received a special certificate for his winning prediction and his accomplishment is posted on the national FMA web site.
Sun began his MBA studies at Lamar in September 2012 and plans to graduate May 2014 with the goal of pursuing a Ph.D. in finance. He holds bachelor’s degrees in business and business law from Inner Mongolia University.
The FMA award is not Sun’s first national recognition while attending Lamar. He was a member of Lamar’s team that earned a second-place finish in the Aspen Institute’s 2013 Business and Society International MBA Case Competition in April.
