LUTV on Fox features Jimmy and Susan Simmons
An upcoming edition of “LUTV on Fox” features an in-depth interview with outgoing President James Simmons about his time at Lamar University. His wife, Susan, joins in one segment of the show.
The show airs Sunday, June 23, at 3 p.m. on KBTV Fox 4. It will also be shown June 25 on LUTV Time Warner Channel 7 at 7 p.m.
The students, alumni, staff and faculty of the Department of Communication at Lamar University produce “LUTV on Fox.” The 30-minute program highlights the people, organizations and departments that have helped Lamar University become one of the fastest-growing universities in Texas.
Lamar alumus Josh Yawn hosts the episode in which KBTV Fox 4 News Anchor Sheldra Brigham interviews the couple. Brigham is also an adjunct instructor in the department. The production crew for “LUTV on Fox” features students Daniel Broussard of Orange, Derrick Owens and Aaron Welborn of Beaumont, and German Cortez and Milton Quijano of Houston. Graduate student Kyle Brodeur of Bridge City edited the show.
Larry Elliott, an associate professor in the Department of Communication, and department chair O’Brien Stanley are the program’s executive producers. LUTV Studio Operations Manager Gordon Williams is the producer for “LUTV on Fox.” Brianna Meadows, production coordinator for Lamar Video, served as associate producer.
Under the name LUTV Productions, students, alumni, staff and faculty of the Department of Communication have produced a number of award-winning television commercials, programs and documentaries, such as “Magnolia: A Century of Oil,” “Surviving Rita: Looking Forward,” “LU on the U” and “The Dean’s Corner.”
In 2013, LUTV Productions received first place awards for “LUTV on Fox” and the “Beaumont Fire Department Recruitment Video” from the Press Club of Southeast Texas. The program garnered second place honors at the Lone Star Awards at the Houston Press Club in 2011 and 2012.
