Dishman features South African artist Mary Sibande
Admission to the reception and exhibition is free.
Based in Johannesburg, Sibande employs the human form as a vehicle to explore the construction of identity in post-Apartheid South Africa. Her work also attempts to critique stereotypical depictions of women, particularly black women, in our society.
The Dishman Art Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is located at 1030 East Lavaca, Beaumont, Texas. Free museum-dedicated parking is available in front of the Dishman during museum hours.
