LU offers a variety of summer camps

Lamar University invites students of all ages to a variety of summer camps to be held on campus this summer. Camps are offered for a variety of ages and interests with both daily and residential opportunities.

Lamar University Soccer Camp – There will be one session May 11, for girls, grades 8 -12. There will be two sessions, July 8-12 & July 22-26, for boys and girls ages 4-16.

Lamar Tennis Camp There will be five sessions. Each session will be held Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. until noon.  The session dates are June 3-6, 10-13, 17-20, 24-27.  In July, a session will be held July 22-25. Contact (409) 880-8202 or visit

ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp – Free two-week residential camp, June 9-21, for incoming 6th through 8th graders who excel in math and science. Pre-registration is required. Contact Becky Broussard or Otilia Urbina at 409-880-7786 or otilia.urbina@lamar.edu.

Lamar Football Camp – June 10-12, youth camp for students entering grades 1-8; June 13, high school offensive and defensive line camp for students entering grades 9 -12; June 14, high schools skills camp for students entering grades 9-12; July 20, junior and senior high school camp for students entering grades 11-12. Pre-registration is preferred.

Lamar University Swim Program – session dates are June 10-20, June 24-27, July 8-18, July 22 – Aug 1, Aug 5-15.  Pre-registration is required and will be held May 21 through May 23 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center. Lamar Volleyball Summer Camps and Clinics – June 11-13 for students completing grades 4-6; June 17-20, July 8-11, and July 29-Aug. 1 for students completing grades 7-9; July 19-21 for students completing grades 9-11. A setter and outside hitter clinic will be held July 26 for students completing grades 9-11. gO With Engineering, Science and Technology Academy (gO WEST) – Dates: July 7-12. The gO With Engineering, Science and Technology Academy is a one-week residential camp for incoming ninth-grade students who are United States citizens and at least 14 years old at the time of the camp, which focuses on engineering careers. Applicants must have a “B” average in Math and Science and a recommendation from those teachers. Deadline date for receiving applications is May 10, 2013. The gOlden Opportunities for Southeast Texas Construction Career Academy is a one week residential camp for incoming ninth-grade students who are United States citizens and at least 14 years old at the time of the camp, which focuses on careers in construction.
