14 faculty retirees earn recognition

Fourteen retirees – representing more than 300 years of teaching excellence at Lamar University – received recognition April 10 during the university’s annual faculty awards ceremony.

These faculty members have retired or will retire during the 2012-2013 academic year, listed according to length of service:
        Fara Goulas, associate professor of counseling and special populations, 40 years.
        Ku-yen Li, professor of chemical engineering, 35 years.
        Joanne Lindoerfer, associate professor of psychology, 33 years.
        Katherine Roberts, assistant professor of nursing, 33 years.
        Carl Montano, professor of economics, 32 years.
        Betsy Hines, associate professor of music and coordinator of class piano, 28 years.
        Umporn Tosirisuk, assistant professor of college readiness, 27 years.
        Donna Bumpus, assistant professor of nursing, 25 years.
        Jennie Godkin, associate professor of nursing, 19 years.
        Emma Hawkins, professor of English, 11 years.
        Tsong-dsu “Sherry” Li, instructor of chemistry, 10 years.
        Verda Briggs, instructor of college readiness, eight years.
        Nancy Carlson, associate professor of counseling and special populations, eight years.
        LuAnna Stephens, associate professor of educational leadership, three years.
