KVLU Explores Australia and New Zealand

Lamar University public radio KVLU (91.3 FM) will host a South Pacific travel adventure Nov. 4 – 18, 2013, with more details to be revealed at a travel meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas.

Participants will tour Australia and New Zealand, with stops scheduled at the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney in Australia, and Christchurch and Queenstown in New Zealand.

Scheduled highlights will include a visit to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Center, a wildlife preserve, a tour of the Sydney Opera House, Mount Cook National Park, the wine region of New Zealand and the fjords of Milford Sound.

“There has been a lot of interest in these destinations, so we are pleased to be able to put this trip together,” said Melanie Dishman, station manager for advancement and the tour’s coordinator. “Trips of this scale take more planning time, so we’re starting earlier this year to allow anyone who wants to go a chance to schedule it.

Anyone interested in traveling to the South Pacific with KVLU should plan to attend the information meeting on Nov. 14 in the lecture hall at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, located at 500 Main St. in Beaumont.

It is not necessary to be a member of KVLU to participate in the trip.
