Family-friendly Lamarissimo! holiday concert
Lamar University’s A Cappella Choir, Grand Chorus and Cardinal Singers will celebrate the season with classic Christmas and Hanukkah favorites at the annual Lamarissimo! Holiday Choirs concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Julie Rogers Theatre.
The performance, sponsored by JK Subaru, is sure to lift holiday spirits with popular tunes such as “Feliz Navidad,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Happy Hanukkah, My Friend,” as well as the annual audience carol sing along—a perennial favorite.
Selections from the A Cappella Choir will include “Personent Hodie”—a medieval Christmas carol performed in Latin—“Silent Night,” “White Christmas” and “Vamos todos a Belén,” a traditional South American Christmas song that promises to be very entertaining.
James Han, director of choral activities, will conduct the A Cappella Choir and the Grand Chorus. Byron Balentine, KVLU public radio station manager for operations, will announce the compositions. The accompanists will be faculty members Dwight Peirce and Betsy Hines.
Season tickets are $45 for adults and $20 for (K-12) students and include admission to all four concerts in the 2012-13 season. Individual tickets, $18 for adults and $12 for (K-12) students, will be available in the theatre box office before the performance. Admission is free to students of Lamar University upon presentation of their LU ID.
