Lamar to host 50-year-plus alumni, Class of ’62
Lamar University will honor 50-year-plus graduates at its inaugural Golden Circle brunch Saturday, Nov. 10.
President James Simmons and his wife, Susan, will host the brunch at 11 a.m. in the University Reception Center on the eighth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library. Alumni of the classes from 1924 to 1962 will be honored at the event, staged in conjunction with the 50th-anniversary reunion of the Class of 1962.
“I always enjoy our 50th-anniversary reunions, especially visiting with alumni of those eras and hearing about their college experiences,” said Linda LeBlanc, Lamar’s director of alumni affairs. “This will be the first year that all 50-plus-year grads are included in the Golden Circle Brunch, and we hope it will become an annual tradition.”
A pre-game tailgate party for 1962 alumni will begin at 1 p.m. in the Red Room of the Montagne Center.
Activities will lead up to the final home football game of the 2012 season, when the Cardinals will take on the Colonels of Nicholls State at 3 p.m. in Provost Umphrey Stadium. Members of the Class of ’62 will watch the game from the Red Room.
Dress for the brunch and tailgate party will be casual game-day attire. Registrations will be taken through Oct. 31 by mail, by phone, (409) 880-7984, or online at lamar.edu/alumni.
