LU reports Spring 2012 enrollment

Lamar University released its official Spring 2012 enrollment figure of 13,773 students today

“Last year, Lamar posted record credit hours and its second-largest spring enrollment ever,” said Kevin Smith, senior associate provost. “These numbers are within one percentage point of last year’s, however, given the tuition increase this spring and the large December graduating class, we expected a flat semester.”

Tuition increased $28 per semester credit hour, from fall to spring. LU conferred 1,132 degrees in December 2011.

Official enrollment data is collected and released by the Office of Institutional Research and Reporting. Headcount enrollment for Spring 2012 is 13,773, down less than one percentage point compared to last year. Semester credit hours totaled 138,225, off 1.1 percent compared to last spring’s record numbers.

Lamar University’s Investing in The Future comprehensive campaign has raised $97 million to date with 28 percent of the money raised going to endowments for student scholarships. Of the more than 500 privately funded scholarships at LU, nearly 200 have been created since the campaign began.
