Lamar University to change class meeting times for fall
Lamar University students will notice changes to class schedules, including a slightly shorter semester, starting in Fall 2012.
The university will condense the semester, eliminating one week of class meetings. Fall 2012 classes will meet from Aug. 27 to Dec. 5. Final examinations will be Dec. 5-12 with commencement on Dec. 15.
To provide students the same number of instructional hours, each class meeting will be five minutes longer than in past semesters. Classes meeting three times a week (MWF) will be 55 minutes each. Those meeting twice a week (TuTh) will be one hour and 20 minutes each.
In general, the first class period each day will begin at 8 a.m. with a 15-minute break between classes. A complete listing of class periods for Fall 2012 may be viewed here.
