LU MBA program ranked among Global Top 100
Lamar University's MBA program has been listed in the Aspen Institute's Beyond Grey Pinstripes Global Top 100 for MBA programs for 2011.
Beyond Grey Pinstripes is a biennial survey and alternative ranking of accredited business schools worldwide that highlights innovative full-time MBA programs integrating social, ethical and environmental stewardship into the curriculum and research. This ranking is the result of more than 18 months of research assessing how well MBA programs incorporate social and environmental issues into the training of future business leaders. This latest ranking is the third consecutive year Lamar has been part of the Global Top 100.
“This is a wonderful achievement for our faculty. Our highest rating came in the ‘student exposure’ area, reflecting the school’s primary mission of teaching,” said Henry Venta, dean of the College of Business.
The World Resources Institute (WRI) created Grey Pinstripes with Green Ties in 1998 as a report that examined the inclusion of environmental management topics in 37 MBA programs. In 1999, WRI partnered with the Aspen Institute's Business and Society Program to balance the report by examining MBA programs teaching social impact management. This led to the creation of Beyond Grey Pinstripes.
Only face-to-face MBA programs with full-time enrollment were eligible for the survey. Nearly 600 business schools were invited to participate in the study that examined MBA coursework, institutional support and faculty research. In total, more than 11,000 course descriptions and faculty research abstracts were collected. The ranking is tabulated directly from the self-report survey data collected, and examines four specific categories: student opportunity, student exposure, course content and faculty research.
