LU adds exchange program with Chinese university
Lamar is creating opportunities for the students of the City College of Kunming University of Science and Technology in Southwestern China. Lamar has established an exchange program that allows students from Kunming to attend Lamar for a year during their college career.
The program will begin in fall 2012 for the students of Kunming. They will study in China for their freshman and sophomore years before attending Lamar for one year. While at Lamar, the students may enroll in undergraduate level and ESL language courses. After one year, students will return to China for their senior year and graduation.
Lamar has set up a partnership with Kunming because it is critically important for the faculty to be a part of the worldwide explosion of information, technology, and knowledge, and use this to enhance the education of our students, said Steve Doblin, vice president for academic affairs. Lamar has more than 500 international students from 46 countries enrolled.
“This is part of our continuing to bring the world to our students and to make their education comprehensive and relevant. Lamar is looking forward to the continuation of diversifying the campus and preparing students for leadership and learning in a multicultural world,” Doblin said.
