Gladys City Launches New Evening Programs
Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum, on the Lamar University campus, will launch a new series of monthly evening programs called "Gladys City Nights", from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 15 as part of a renewed effort to provide educational and entertaining programming at the museum.
"Gladys City Nights is something totally new for us," said museum Director Mark Osborne. "The monthly programs will give our visitors an opportunity to learn more about the history of Beaumont, Spindletop and early 20th-century America."
Each month, on the third Thursday, the museum will feature guest speakers, films, music and special activities for adults followed by a reception with a cash bar in the museum's Log Cabin Saloon. In September, Thomas Lamb Jr. will present a program on the role of printing in history along with the history, of his family's longtime Beaumont printing
business, Lamb's Printing. Also, as a part of its third Thursday programming, visitors receive free admission all day.
Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is on U.S. 69 at University Drive in Beaumont. Plenty of free parking is available. For more information, call (409) 835-0823 or contact the museum at email@example.com.
