Start time changed for Lamar's season opener
The kickoff time for Lamar University’s 2011 season-opening game on Sept. 3 has been changed to 7:30 p.m.
The game had originally been scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in 16,000-seat Provost Umphrey Stadium. The time adjustment is to move the game later into the evening due to the heat, particularly for fans in the stands that face the west. The university will be providing a number of "cooling stations" around the stadium and bottled water will be available for sale at the concession stands.
Lamar’s second home game, set for Sept. 17 against Incarnate Word, has a 7 p.m. start time. The Cardinals’ home games against Northwestern State on Oct. 8, against Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 5 and against McNeese State on Nov. 19 all have 6 p.m. start times.
Kickoff for the Cardinals’ Homecoming Game against Central Arkansas on Oct. 22 is set for 3 p.m.
