LU honors students host bake sale for Japan relief effort
The Lamar University Honors Student Association will host a bake sale on Saturday, March 26 at the Lamar University Cardinal baseball game against the Texas State Bobcats at Vincent-Beck Stadium. The bake sale is an effort to raise money for the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief fund. All money raised will go directly to the Red Cross to help those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The students will be selling individually wrapped cupcakes and cookies as well as accepting monetary donations from 1-3 p.m. The game starts at 2 p.m. “It feels great to be able to donate our time and energy to benefit people affected by a terrible disaster on the other side of the world,” said Wesley Smith, president of the Honors Student Association. “It’s important to raise funds for this disaster especially since Southeast Texans and Gulf Coast residents understand the aftermath of a natural disaster and its inherent damage.”
