Make-up Classes For June 7 & 21

Attention Summer Students, Faculty and Staff

Lamar University was closed on Wednesday, June 7 due to a campus-wide power outage and on Wednesday, June 21 because of Tropical Storm Cindy. To provide full and complete coverage of instructional material for Summer Sessions I, III, and IV, make-up classes will be held on Saturday, July 1 and Saturday, July 8.

Campus instructional facilities will be open and meeting times and locations will be the same as scheduled during the week. Instructors will be responsible for these make-up meetings and may opt to offer online or other out-of-class assignments in lieu of face-to-face meetings on these dates, provided full coverage of course materials occurs. Faculty should make every reasonable effort to allow students who are unable to attend Saturday classes due to work, family, or similar commitments to make-up any missed assignments or examinations. As determined and assigned by supervisors, essential staff for instructional purposes will be available to provide student services on these make-up dates.

Revised Academic Calendar

These campus closures have resulted in changes to the Academic Calendar. The revised dates for Summer Session I courses will be:

Census: June 09, 2017

Last day to drop or withdraw without academic penalty (Q/W): June 16, 2017

Last day to drop or withdraw with academic penalty: June 29, 2017

For Summer Session III:

Census: June 22, 2017

Last day to drop or withdraw without academic penalty (Q/W): June 29, 2017

Last day to drop or withdraw with academic penalty: July 26, 2017

For Summer Session IV:

Census: June 23, 2017

Last day to drop or withdraw without academic penalty (Q/W): June 30, 2017

Last day to drop or withdraw with academic penalty: July 13, 2017
