The officers of the Honors Student Association of Lamar University are the President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Reaud Honors College Senator, and Student Government Association Representative.

The officers of the Honors Student Association, the Peer Mentoring Coordinators, and the Chairs of the standing committees on Community Service, Event Programming, and Campus Involvement comprise the Executive Committee of the Honors Student Association. The Executive Committee also serves as the Student Advisory Board to the Dean of the Reaud Honors College, representing the needs and views of the Honors College students.

The officers of the organization are elected by the membership of the Association by simple majority vote on or about the first of September annually, as specified in the by-laws.  The chairs of standing committees are appointed by a committee consisting of the officers, the Faculty Advisor, and the Dean of the University Honors College.

The President represents the Association in its dealings with the Dean of the University Honors College, the University Honors Council, the University, and the community at large.  The President also presides over meetings of the Association and of the Executive Committee of the Association, prepares agendas for all meetings in consultation with the Faculty Advisor, appoints chairpersons to lead special committees as needed, and perform additional duties as described in the by-laws. 

The Vice President perform the duties of the President in his/her absence and acts as Parliamentarian at all official meetings of the Association.  In the event of the inability of the President to fulfill the duties of his/her office for whatever cause, the Vice President shall assume the office of the President temporarily until a new President can be elected as prescribed in the by-laws.  The Vice President also assists the President where necessary in representing the Association to the Dean of the University Honors College, the University Honors Council, the University and the community at large, handles publicity for Association events as required and perform additional duties as described in the by-laws.  

The Secretary/Treasurer keeps an accurate attendance record for all of the Association’s meetings and accurate minutes of all Association meetings and all meetings of the Association’s Executive Committee. Such minutes will be presented for approval at the next subsequent meeting. The Secretary/Treasurer also maintains an accurate accounting of all financial transactions of the Association, presents a current financial report at all Association meetings and all meetings of the Association’s Executive Committee, handles all responsibilities related to maintaining the Association’s Student Club Account at the Office of Student Organizations and coordinates fund raising activities for the Association. The Secretary/Treasurer also handles correspondence for the society as required and performs other duties as described in the by-laws.  

All officers of the Honors Student Association of Lamar University, to be eligible to be elected to the office and to hold office, must meet the requirements of the policy on eligibility for extracurricular activities of Lamar University and be members in good standing of the Honors Student Association.

The Reaud Honors College Senator and the Student Government Association Representative adhere to all of the requirements prescribed by SGA to maintain their status in good standing and represent the Reaud Honors College the Honors Student Association respectively at all SGA meetings by providing information about Honors activities and voting by proxy on behalf of the College and Association at all SGA meetings.  The Senatorand the Representative also present a report at each Association meeting and at each meeting of the Association Executive Committee regarding SGA activities,  indicating what issues the Association will be expected to address by vote at the following SGA meeting.  The SGA Representative may also perform other duties as assigned by the President of the Association or as described in the by-laws.
