2017 Conference

Dates for Oral Presentations

  • may be submitted November 15, 2016 through February 1, 2017
  • extension requests cannot be granted
  • Wednesday, February 22, 2017 students and honors directors/deans will be notified if they are presented at the conference
  • Friday, March 17, 2017 students and honors directors/deans notified of award decisions, this will not impact whether the students present at the conference
  • presentations will be given on Saturday morning, April 1st, 2017

Oral Presentation Submissions have closed.

Disqualification

  • abstracts which indicate the identity of either the writer or institution will be disqualified

Abstract Must

  • be no more than 250 words
  • be formatted in readable fashion
  • be viewed, approved and taken as evidence by the students' honors director that the university student is full-time and in good standing with their university and honors program before submitting to the host institution

Oral Presentations Must

  • be submitted through Oral Submission Form located at the top of this page
  • be submitted by the honors director of the nominating institution

Abstract Judging

  • takes place the week of February 13, 2016 by a committee of professors and students in the category that best matches their expertise
  • notification of approval by committee on February 22, 2016 will be sent to the student and honors director

Presentation Locations Are

  • located on the Lamar University Campus
  • found in the program guide available for each pre-registered participant at the conference

Participants Are

  • limited to strictly 10 minutes with an additional 5 minute question and answer time
  • to arrive at their session location prior to presentation time
  • to introduce themselves to the classroom moderator
  • to be prepared to upload their presentation to the computer in their assigned room prior to presentation time

Technology

  • each classroom has a computer, sound system, and a projector
  • all computers have the latest Microsoft Office Suite
  • computer programs include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, One Note and Outlook
  • if you would like to have a projector remote, please bring your own as we will not have one available for every classroom
