Dr. Elvis Arterbury
Dr. Elvis H. Arterbury is a Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Lamar University. He has more than 50 years of experience as an educator in Texas public schools and universities. Dr. Arterbury's wide range of experience includes positions as a elementary and secondary teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, Director of Curriculum Development, assistant superintendent, superintendent and university professor. He received his doctorate in Supervision, Curriculum and Instruction at East Texas State University (ETSU), holds a Master of Education from ETSU and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University.
He directed the research and development project that collaborated with the Texas Education Agency, Dallas and Ft Worth ISDs, and Region 10 & 11 ESCs to generate the prototype for the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS). He is the former President of the Texas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (TxASCD) and he also received a personal commendation from John Sharp, State Comptroller of Public Accounts, for reducing operational costs in a school distric
