Services

Health Services

The Health Center provides Lamar University students with medical services, reduced pharmacy costs, short-term psychological counseling, and health education. A physician is available to treat students for minor illnesses or injuries that do not require constant supervision. Laboratory tests and x-rays are available when requested by the Health Center Physician.

Financial Aid

Lamar University's financial Aid program creates educational opportunities for all capable students. No student should be reluctant to attend Lamar because of need for financial assistance. Approximately one-third of all Lamar students receive financial assistance totaling more than $12 million per year. Financial assistance is available in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, and on-campus employment.  Visit the department of Student Financial Aid for more information.

Grants

Grants are awarded through the determination of financial need. Grants range from $200 to $2400 per academic year. The following grants may be applied for through the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Federal Pell Grant
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)
State Tuition Scholarship
State Student Incentive Grants

Loans

Several loan funds are available to Lamar students, such as

Federal Perkins Loan
Stafford Student Loan
Hinson-Hazelwood College Student Loan
Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduates
Students/Supplemental Loans for Students

Long-term loans are offered with repayment scheduled after the borrower graduates or leaves school. Requirements and applications for each of the following loans may be obtained from the Office of Student Financial Aid. Emergency loans for tuition and fee payment are available to Lamar students prior to each registration period.
