Organizations

Make the most of your college experience. Lamar students enjoy a wide range of student clubs, organizations, social fraternities and sororities that provide umlimited social possibilities. The university has a proud tradition of offering formal programs in leadership, interpersonal skills, and student development.

Our student body is diverse.  With more than 100 clubs and organizations on campus, you can find a way to express yourself. The Office of Student Organization Services in Room 212 of the Setzer Student Center, can help you connect with the clubs and organizations that interest you. From student government to performing arts, intramural sports to honor societies, this is your chance to get involved. Visit the Setzer Center website for a complete list of organzations at Lamar.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) provides a voice, through which your opinion may be expressed, for the decision-making processes of the university community. The SGA president and student senators are elected each spring by the student body. The SGA vice president serves as the presiding officer of the student senate. Senators are elected from the following contituencies: one senator from each academic college; two senators from each class of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors; and eight senators-at-large who are commuter students not active in more than two campus organizations. Each student organization, that is officially recognized by the university, is allowed to send one senator to senate meetings.
