Lamar fields National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I-A teams for Southland Conference competition in sports for both men and women. Our heritage of excellence is a well balanced program of athletics and educational achievement grounded in good sportsmanship and discipline.
The Montagne Center, an $11.5 million multipurpose activity and athletic facility, is home to the Cardinals and Lady Cardinals basketball teams, where banners herald Lamar's NCAA and National Invitational Tournament (NIT)successes. Golf, tennis, track, volleyball, and the nationally recognized Cardinal baseball team are also part of the Lamar athletic tradition.
Lamar University Athletics unite students in cardinal spirit. Athletic competition helps newcomers become involved in the Lamar community through intercollegiate participation or support of Lamar University teams.
