Summer Transient Students

Students who attend another college in the spring semester who wish to do summer work only at Lamar University may be admitted as transient students. A summer transient student must submit a regular application online through the Texas statewide application system. Academic transcripts are not required unless specifically requested. If classes are needed to fulfill an academic prerequisite, official transcripts must be submitted for evaluation.

Transient students must comply with the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), which requires all students to demonstrate their readiness for college-level courses prior to enrollment. Students must provide scores on a TSI-approved placement test (ACCUPLACER, THEA, ASSET or COMPASS) or evidence of exemption and proof of prior semester registration at any college or university.

Transient students who later apply for regular admission to Lamar University must meet all entrance requirements for transfer students.
