General Education Requirements—Bachelor’s Degrees
- Satisfy all admission and graduation requirements.
- Complete the Philosophy of Knowledge Core (see page 16 of this catalog).
- Meet the following minimum requirements:
- A grade point average of at least 2.00 on all courses in the major field and on all courses attempted (some departments may require a higher grade point average).
- Successfully complete a minimum of 120 semester hours, in addition, the following requirements must be met:
- 30 semester hours earned at Lamar University or 25% of the total hours required for the degree, whichever is greater;
- at least 24 semester hours earned at Lamar University after attaining senior classification, except for pre-professional degree programs in biology and medical technology;
- 30 semester hours at the junior and senior level (upper division), of which 18 hours must be completed at Lamar University;
- 24 semester hours in a major field with at least 12 in upper division courses;
- No more than 18 semester hours of correspondence work and no more than 30 hours of correspondence, extension work, and/or credit by examination combined may be applied to the bachelor’s degree.
- Complete the program of study for the major listed in the bulletin.
- Attend the official graduation exercise or properly notify the Records Office.

The JoAnne Gay Dishman Department of Nursing offers two graduate tracks leading to the Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) degree and one dual track in nursing and business. The graduate nursing program is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 500, Atlanta, GA 30326). Persons seeking admission may pursue the degree on a full or part-time basis. General requirements for catalog must be met. Substitution of the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score provides a choice for prospective students.
