How to Apply
1. High School Graduates
Submit an undergraduate application for admission.
Take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) test (October, November or December dates are preferred) or the American College Test (ACT) test (October or December dates are preferred) and designate Lamar University to receive score reports.
Submit a copy of your current hight school transcript to Lamar University.
Have final high school transcript sent to the Lamar University Admissions Office immediately after graduation. Final certification of graduation is required.
2. College Transfers
Submit an undergraduate or graduate application for admission.
Submit official transcripts from each college previously attended. This requirement applies regardless of the length of time in attendance and regardless of whether credit was earned or is desired. Students will no be allowed to register until all college transcripts are on file in the Admissions Office.
Students transferring fewer than 18 semester credit hours must take the SAT or ACT and/or have a record of these scores sent to the Office Admissions.
When to Apply
1. High School Graduates and Returning Students
It is recommended that new and former students complete an application for admission and submit all required documents by the following dates.
Fall Semester - August 1
Spring Semester - January 2
Summer I Semester - May 25
Summer II Semester - July 1
Applications received after these datese will be considered as time allows.
2. College Transfers
Applications should be made a minimum of two to three months in advance of the proposed enrollment date. The application form should be submitted before transcripts are sent.
Temporary admission may be granted if the time between the end of a semester elsewhere and the beginning of a subsequent semester at Lamar is too short for the transcript(s) to be received before registration. All credentials must be on file at Lamar within one week after the first class day or the student will be withdrawn from the university. Students on temporary admission status who are subsequently found to be ineligible for admission will be withdrawn.
Transfer applicants must submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Students who are currently enrolled at another institution must also submit a supplemental transcript upon completion of the semester in progress at the time of their application to Lamar.
Acceptance Notices
Acceptance notices are usually issued shortly after the required admission credentials are received. Registration information and general instructions are included. Lamar University has no student quota. All applicants who meet entrance requirements are generally accepted.
